Phishing Attack on Twitter?
Posted by WagTapper at 14:38 Labels: Phishing, Scam, Social Media, TwitterA number of Twitter users are talking about how Twitter has suddenly forced them to change their passwords. According to blogger Andrew Girdwood, there are many users that have received an email containing the following message:
“Due to concern that your account may have been compromised in a phishing attack that took place off-Twitter, your password was reset,” along with a link for resetting the password.
Although the email itself looks like a phishing attack, it is genuine; it seems that Twitter admins have discovered something phishy is going on, and they’re trying to reduce the extent of the damage before it happens.
The Next Web also mentions reports that this incident is related to the user account @THCx, which may have gained access to a huge number of Twitter accounts, possibly by abusing NutshellMail, but obviously, none of this can be confirmed at the moment.
